__________________________

— Colossians 1:21-22 —
Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behavior. But now he has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation…

"That any of us is saved is owing to the wonderful truth that the death of Christ obtained the grace by which God conquered our hearts and caused us to love the One we once hated."
— John Piper

__________________________

— Proverbs 15:15 —
All the days of the oppressed are wretched,
but the cheerful heart has a continual feast.

Our attitudes color our whole personality. We cannot always choose what happens to us, but we can choose our attitude toward each situation. The secret to a happy heart is filling our mind with thoughts that are true, pure, and lovely, with thoughts that dwell on the good things in life (Philippians 4:8). This was Paul’s secret as he faced imprisonment, and it can be ours as we face struggles of daily living. Look at your attitudes and then examine what you allow to enter your mind and what you choose to dwell on. You may need to make some changes.

— Revelation 21:1-4 —
Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth,” for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”

Have you ever wondered what eternity will be like? The “Holy City, the new Jerusalem” is a place where God will “wipe every tear from their eyes.” Forevermore, there will be no death, pain, sorrow, or crying. What a wonderful truth! No matter what you are going through, it is not the last word — God has written the final chapter, and it is about true fulfillment and eternal joy for those who love him. We do not know as much as we would like, but it is enough to know that eternity with God will be more wonderful than we could ever imagine.

— Romans 12:1 —
Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God — this is your true and proper worship.

Offering ourselves to God is not just giving up our spare evenings or a Sunday morning but the whole of our lives to Him. It means giving up our plans, our money, our family — everything that has significance at all to us. Everything is given over to Him, entrusted completely into His care. If we claim to be followers of Christ while holding on to certain areas of our life, we have not understood that the fully surrendered life is to be the norm for every Christian. It is a process of daily sacrificing of who we are and what we do in order to live in complete dependence on the One who sacrificed so much for us. Choose to remain a living sacrifice by remaining on the altar even when the fires of life get hot.
